Killer set from Oasis last night. They followed Coldplay into town by two days but Noel and Co. blew Coldplay away (which was a boring set, btw).
Show took place at the Riverside Theatre which is a nicely restored 19th century theatre in downtown Milwaukee.
The place was sold out and they were selling $4.00 tallboys of Pabst Blue Ribbon out in the lobby, so you could say that the crowd was ready to go when the band hit the stage.
I've been to a lot of shows in my day, and a lot of those have lacked energy, but this one did not. The crowd was rowdy and way into the show from the opening number.
People were moving around and singing, well, actually most of use were yelling along with every song, no matter if it was old or new. Some of the newer songs actually got a lot of cheering... Importance of Being Idle being one of those.
This was my third Oasis show and first since 1996! The band was great and I can't say enough about Mr. Starkey on drums. Nothing against Alan White, but Zak has a different style, much more fluid and I think it really had the band light on their toes.
The setlist appeared to be fairly typical of some of their recent dates. It was great to hear such gems as The Masterplan and Acquiesce.
All in all I left very excited. It was just a loud, rowdy, sweaty, rock and roll show... and what else could you have asked for! |
