OASIS rocker NOEL GALLAGHER has slammed hip-hop star JAY-Z for daring to headline Britain's legendary Glastonbury festival - insisting he is not rock 'n' roll enough.
The Live Forever guitarist is blaming the rapper for the lack of tickets sold at this year's (Jun08) event, which managed to shift just 100,000 passes on the first day. The Wonderwall hitmaker has accused organisers of the event, which normally sells out in a matter of hours, of steering the festival too far away from its rock 'n' roll roots.
He says, "If it ain't broke don't fix it.
"If you start to break it then people aren't going to go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance.
"Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go 'Kylie Minogue?'
"I don't know about it. But I'm not having hip hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong."
Oasis headlined the main stage at Glastonbury in 1995 and 2004, with the event selling out on both occasions.

'JAY-Z SHOULDN'T BE THERE
Well, he´s right. Glasto is traditionally a rock and roll festival. Jay-Z could be included, yes, but headliner? That´s too much. Maybe the promoters want to appeal to different audiences. BTW, I also saw this article on yahoo and MSN. Interesting, Oasis are one of Yahoo!´s top seaches today. Way to go, Noel!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I agree that Galsto is not a place for Rap music...especially if he is the only rap artists in it.
It would be as ridiculous as Oasis closing for some R&B festival. I think what Noel is trying to say is clear and makes perfect sense.
I also don't think people in North America would really care, because i'm sure the majority of people think Oasis had 1 album with 3 songs. |

I can see what Noel's getting at here, but then again I can't stand hip hop, so what do I know? What I find amazing is the response this is getting, seems like everyone's gone and branded Noel a big racist. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
