It is sad that it's so quiet. All the dedicated members have moved on, although a lot of them were forced. It's a shame because this used to be a great forum, despite the little upsets every now and then. I don't have so much of a sense of loss because I only posted and didn't contribute in any other way, but it must be bad for people like you (Mar) who spent so much time sorting things out, putting up pictures, and generally improving the place when there are fewer people to see them, since who visits a dead forum? Such a shame. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It's really sad, isn't it? I log in just to check how things are going and nobody is even posting, really, except you (Mar) and Vince (and that whatsit afro guy but he's a tool) and I hate to see all of the work that so many people have put into the site just go down the drain. Even if people register for the site just for the gallery, it's not going to make the site come alive.
The thing is, it isn't just the webmaster and the assistant webmaster and the mods that make a site. The members were what made OF the site it was, and now almost all of them are gone. It used to be such a great site and I have a lot of fun memories from it, I met a lot of really wonderful people (especially you Mar, and Nik and Sil) and I could never trash the site just because of that.
In the long run maybe this is what Vince wanted. He's rid of all the trouble makers, which by default got rid of all the active posters. Maybe this is a chance for OF to start fresh, all new members, new friends, new memories.
I know that one thing I love about BIOD is that Beccuh is completely honest about everything, and all the active posters that used to be here are there now, so now I only return to OF out of.. I guess habit, it still holds a special place in my heart of websites. At first I thought I'd still come back to keep in touch with some people, but they're all there now and the ones that aren't I have on MSN.
It's just sad to see the site like this, really. I hate it.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We've had periods like this before and we've survived.
I have seen many active forum posters leave because of the troublemakers. I am just sick and tired of seeing nice, friendly and active members leaving cos of a few idiots on the forum.
Others leave because they have outgrown Oasis and Oasis Fanatic. Some people join the site just to "lurk around" without any intention of posting.
The culture on Oasis Fanatic seems to constantly evolve. In the beginning at 2002, no one wanted a "Go Let It Out" forum. It was not until a few members who started fighting constantly in the forums a few years later that people wanted a special forum for them to fight in.
Over time, some members wanted more freedom in that forum and wanted it be an "anything goes" forum.
There was a time not too long ago when we faced the same issues with troublemakers. Back then, most people rejoiced in the removal of these people. However, in 2008, this was met with a huge uproar.
I just don't want to log on to Oasis Fanatic and have to deal with troublemakers on a daily basis. Some of them think they can do whatever they want here just because they are popular.
We need sensible, friendly, logical and creative people in to improve Oasis Fanatic and not a bunch of childish hooligans.
Therefore, I hope in the coming months, some new members will join us because we no longer have these troublemakers around and we can have a more pleasant environment here.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The funny part is... How do you mean Oasis Fanatic is dying? How must it be to be called dead? Please do not be overly negative and paint a doom and gloom picture when in reality it isn't that bad.
|
You don't think it's that bad? Nobody is here anymore, Vince, OF apparently has 5930 registered Oasis Fanatics and only, like, five of them are posting. If this isn't the definition of a dying site I don't know what is.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
