It's a five. Straight off.
However, there are some tracks which are maybes. I have never particularly liked Up In The Sky, Shakermaker, Columbia or Bring It On Down. But to make up for it. The all time greats Supersonic, Rock 'n' Roll Star, Live Forever and Cigarettes And Alcohol. I also have a certain liking For Married With Children and Digsy's Dinner. |

To this day the blood starts pumping and my insides start to jump when I hear that first cord of Rock n Roll Star. Its amazing how a song can still have the same effect every time I have heard it, for me over 11 years!
This album is a giant kick in the arse, it took grunge music and stomped the hell out of it. It is heavy and fierce, Liam rips through his vocals like a tornado, leaving nothing in his wake. He whines, he b****es and he bashes you in the face with lyrics torn from the heart of his fed up , yet thoughtful brother.
While tearing the audience apart with songs like 'Bring it on Down" and yet easing your soul with "Live Forever".
Definitely Maybe runs the gambit of emotions...from happy to sad, to mad, to thoughtful to even melancholy with "Married with Children" .
It been said time and time over, what an impact DM had on the rock world and youth at the time, so I will end this by saying this...Rock n Roll can save your soul and to do you will have to start with this record. |
